Verify Tracking Domain Name

A Tracking Domain (also known as a Custom Tracking Link) allows you to replace the default Sendonyx tracking URLs with your own branded domain. This significantly improves your deliverability and builds trust with your subscribers because all links in your emails will look like link.yourdomain.com.

1. Access Tracking Settings

Before configuring your DNS, you need to initiate the setup within your dashboard to generate your unique tracking values.

  • The Path: Log into your Sendonyx dashboard, navigate to the Verify section, and click on Tracking Domain Name.
  • The Action: Click the Add Tracking Domain button. Usually, we recommend using a subdomain like track or link (e.g., track.yourdomain.com).
💡
Subdomain Choice: Don’t use your main domain for tracking. Always use a subdomain. The most common and professional choices are [suspicious link removed], https://www.google.com/url?sa=E&source=gmail&q=track.yourdomain.com, or https://www.google.com/search?q=click.yourdomain.com.

2. Adding the CNAME Record

To make your custom tracking domain work, you need to create a bridge between your domain provider and Sendonyx servers.

  • The Setup: Go to your DNS provider (Cloudflare, Namecheap, etc.) and add a new record.
  • Type: Select CNAME.
  • Host/Name: This is the prefix you chose (e.g., track).
  • Value/Target: This will be provided in your Sendonyx dashboard (usually tracking.sendonyx.net).
⚠️
Cloudflare Proxy Warning: This is the #1 reason for tracking failure. If you use Cloudflare, the Proxy Status MUST be set to “DNS Only” (Grey Cloud). If it’s on “Proxied” (Orange Cloud), our SSL certificate cannot be issued, and your links will show a security error.

3. SSL and Final Verification

Once the CNAME is added, Sendonyx needs to issue a secure SSL certificate for your new tracking subdomain so your links start with https://.

  • The Action: Click the Verify button in your Sendonyx dashboard.
  • The Process: Our system will check the DNS. Once found, it will automatically attempt to generate an SSL certificate for your tracking domain.
Verification Time: Tracking domains often take longer to verify than standard DKIM records because of the SSL issuance. If it says “Pending SSL,” give it up to 60 minutes before contacting support.
